COMING SOON to Gilbert, Arizona

COMING SOON to Gilbert, Arizona

New restaurants and shops coming soon to Gilbert, AZ in 2015.

Barrio Queen

The popular Scottsdale Tequileria known for its authentic Mexican cuisine opens in Gilbert next month. Recognized in 2012 as one of the “Best New Restaurants in America” by Esquire magazine, Barrio Queen will be a great addition to the Heritage Marketplace.

Where: 388 N. Gilbert Road
When: Late April
New Jobs: Approximately 80 experienced industry professionals for positions as Servers, Bartenders, Expediters, Cooks, Hosts, Bussers, and Dishwashers
Where to Apply: On site beginning March 24 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Prediction: Barrio Queen is going to attract new people to downtown and not just cannibalize the existing crowd. Expect Friday and Saturday evening wait times to remain constant at all downtown restaurants. Barrio Queen will probably be the best place in Gilbert to celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year.

Fat Cats!

The popular Utah based family fun center comes to Gilbert. The north Gilbert facility will include a bowling alley, theatre, game arcade, and restaurant.

Where: 4321 E. Baseline Road
When: Late Spring

Prediction: It becomes another great amenity associated with living in Val Vista Lakes as it is within walking and biking distance for many on the Greenfield side of the community. Likely to cannibalize Amazing Jakes a bit and keep some of those family entertainment dollars right here in Gilbert.

Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream

Happy Joes Pizza has been a staple in Iowa since the early 70’s. Founder Joe Whitty’s concept has successfully grown over the years and spread into 7 states with the latest being Arizona. The first location in Arizona will be right here in Gilbert.

Where: 263 E. Warner Road #105
When: Late Spring – Happy Joe Whitty will be on hand for the Grand Opening!!!
New Jobs: 20-25, keep checking our Facebook timeline for updates

Prediction: Every Iowa native in Gilbert is going to be over the moon about the opening and then they are going to relentlessly encourage their friends to try the Happy Joe’s Special. Heads up Gilbertonians, it’s “Sauerkraut and Canadian Bacon” pizza. We hear it’s great.

H&M is one of the world’s largest fashion retailers famous for offering fashion forward apparel and accessories at affordable prices. This fall their 24,000 square foot store at SanTan Village will become their sixth in the metro Phoenix market. The store will offer clothing for women, men and children.

Where: SanTan Village
When: Fall 2015
New Jobs: 30 people have been hired for this location

Prediction: I will go broke because my daughter will want to shop there every day. Other than my personal setback I think this will be a great draw for the shopping center especially during the off peak season. This H&M location will also help deter some shoppers from heading over to the Chandler mall. Big win for SanTan Village and Gilbert residents.

Momenti Local Pizzeria

Quick serve pizza and salad made before your eyes.

Where: 1633 S. Higley Road #102
When: Late Spring

Prediction. The residents in the apartment complex behind this place with be so thankful and probably keep the place busy enough. Hopefully so because the parking looks a little challenging.

Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana

Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana features food created by Master Chef Matteo Schiavone. With locations in Phoenix and Scottsdale, expect their 3,400 square foot location in Gilbert to be a hit. In addition to pizza, their menu includes pasta, salads and appetizers.

Where: 366 N. Gilbert Road
When: April-May

Prediction: This is the place that might actually take some business away from the other restaurants downtown on weeknights and during the slow season.

Peterson’s Old-fashioned Ice Cream

Since 1919, Petersen’s Ice Cream has been a Chicago mainstay with its recipe for delicious ice cream that has endured for over 90 years. Recently the company expanded into Arizona by opening a location in Scottsdale.

Where: Heritage Marketplace
When: Late April/May
Hiring: 25 Job fair coming soon. Keep checking our timeline for updates

Prediction: Lines out the door every night and around the building on Friday nights. Hopefully another cool neon sign downtown as well. We think the best thing about Petersen’s will be that a quality ice cream parlor just might pry diners from their seats at the surrounding restaurants and actually reduce wait times as a result.

Snooze Eatery

Their menu features eggs, pancakes and other breakfast items served in traditional and creative ways. It looks like it might become the hippest looking restaurant downtown.

Where: Downtown Gilbert just north of Joyride Taco House
When: Lord only knows (this is what we write when you don’t get back to us with an answer)

Prediction: A dramatic increase of people in downtown in the mornings. This will be a draw just like Bergie’s and the Farmhouse have been for years. It might even bring more people down to the Farmers Market and Art Walk on Saturdays. Will quickly become one of the go to morning hang outs for the new college students from St. Xavier.

Zoyo Neighborhood Yogurt

With 10 locations spread across the valley, Zolo brings their contemporary and colorful yogurt shop to Gilbert. Enjoy their delicious yogurt along with a variety of fresh toppings.

Where: 1633 S. Higley Road #101
When: Late spring

Prediction. Instant hit. That corner needs something like this. There may be a reversal of fortune a couple years down the road though as Joe Johnston’s Agritopia Epicenter development becomes a reality.
